At Emory, we often used video to amplify messages to coworkers. In a 300+ person division, it helps to give a bit of character beyond just memos or handouts, especially for things coming from the executive suite. One such series highlighted key phrases in the vision statement, as delivered by the Dean’s daughter. Another project introduced a slate of new hires to colleagues on a siloed campus.

Of course, we also produced videos for the students. Many had only heard of one or two departments out of dozens, so our aim was simply awareness. The CLC testimonial series was particularly helpful as we got a massive renovation project off the ground, and “welcome” videos gave faces to names. I mostly worked as a team of one, handling all aspects of production: script writing, filming, editing, animation, and distribution.
